Who should make a will? Anybody who has recently married, or divorced, is single or has children, has no dependants or family. In short everybody should if they want their estate to pass in the way they would wish it. Otherwise think who might benefit - estranged spouses, distant relations instead of your favourite charity, the tax man, even the Crown.
Wills are the way to leave gifts of money, mementos or charitable bequests. They are also the way in which you appoint guardians to look after your children during their minority, and trustees to look after their finances until they come of age.
In addition to offering a will drafting service, we also offer a full probate service, including registering of the death of the deceased, determining the size and nature of the estate on behalf of trustees or personal representatives, making the application for a grant of probate or administration and gathering in and distributing of the estate in accordance with the terms of the will or, in the case of an intestacy, the Intestacy Rules.
We can take care of all tax matters and we can arrange for properties to be sold wherever that may be appropriate.
If there are young children, we can advise on the duties of trustees, though at present we do not offer a trust management service.
